Grayston Drive
Cable Stay Bridge
Client:
RHDHV for Johannesburg Development Agency
Services:
Non-linear construction stage analysis. Assisting with cable forces finding analysis. Pylon design.
The pedestrian bridge is spanning over the M1 and is positioned next to the Grayston Drive Overpass Bridge.
The deck, with a main span of 100m, is stayed of a single pylon. The very slender 1m wide concrete pylon, which towers some 70m high above the foundation, reduce in depth from 2.4m at deck level to 1m at the top.
Superstructures was commissioned by RHDHV to perform non-linear construction stage analysis and the pylon design.

Farris Cable Stay
Bridge
Client:
Rambøll, Norway
Services:
Structural modelling assistance – construction stages, cable force finding, dynamic analysis, traffic loading, etc.
The total length of the bridge is 580m and consists of the left approach bridge (120m long), the main cable stay bridge (180mlong) and the right approach bridge (280m long). The bridge is on a horizontal curve over its full length.

Varodd
Bridge
Location:
Norway
Client:
Johs Holt
Services:
Construction stage and camber analysis
Superstructures was commissioned to perform the first round construction stage and camber analysis of this balanced cantilever bridge with a main span of 290m long.
The bridge is in Kristiansand, Norway, and will span across the Topdalsfjorden. Currently there is an old suspension bridge which is carrying the eastbound traffic, and a newer balanced cantilever bridge for the westbound traffic. The new Varodd Bridge will replace the older suspension bridge.

Oslo Fjord
Crossing
West Bridge
Location:
Norway
Client:
Rambøll for Statens Vegvesen
Services:
Construction stage analysis, wind dynamic analysis
A new crossing is planned over the Oslo Fjord to relieve the existing tunnel system. The proposed bridge length is 2,565m long. The deck is a prestressed concrete box girder varying in depth from 3.5m to 17.0m. Superstructures performed the construction stage analysis and wind dynamic analysis on a balanced cantilever bridge solution with main spans of 290m long.

Precast Segmental
Bridge
Location:
Saudi Arabia
Client:
Al Yamama Company
Services:
Erection Design
In addition to performing a design review on the bridges, Superstructures was also commissioned to perform the erection design using the precast segmental construction method with an overhead gantry.
The King Faisal road bridge consists of 4 contiguous decks carrying traffic over King Abdul-Aziz Road. The total length of the 4 decks is 2250m with span lengths varying from 15m to 55m. The decks are double cell concrete box girders constructed with the precast segmental method. The bridge is founded on 800mm diameter concrete piles to a depth of 26m.
